Question 1 : What is Travel Wander?

Mabel reply: Talking about the name Travel Wander. The inspiration of the name comes from our love for 2 things, travelling and wandering around. We hope to inspire to do both of these.

Question 2: Tell us more about yourself and your partner who is the boss of Travel Wander?

Mabel reply: Travel Wander was conceptualise by Sheryl and Sheryl roped in Mabel who shares the same passion and vision. Together, they hope to create a difference and inspire more to step out of their comfort zone. The company started official operations in October 2016.

Sheryl used to head an international coach touring brand as the Regional Director and Mabel has over 10 years experience in the travel industry, having worked in various departments from operations to sales.

Question 3: Why do you and your partner want to set up Travel Wander ? How both of you have this idea?

Mabel reply: Our true passion lies in being outdoors with nature. But we have forgotten to take a step back to appreciate and engage in what we love ever since we stepped into the corporate world and got sucked into the rat race, trying to make a mark for ourselves. We realise that a lot of professionals encounter the same as us, putting aside what we love for what is necessary. And we decided that by creating an avenue, it will perhaps encourage them to re-engage with what they love, or for those who have not tried it before, it is never too late to start now.

Question 4: Travel Wander provides what kind of programs or activities?

Mabel reply:  We offer active experiential holidays like running, hiking and cycling trips. These trips are on leisure basis, where the element of fun is included, like local sightseeing, local food etc. We also focus a lot of sustainable and responsible tourism, always reminding our members to be mindful of their waste and carbon footprints when on our trips.

We also help to design holiday itineraries according to your own preferences if you feel that what we have to offer is not suitable for you.

Question 5: what so special about Travel Wander compare to other competitor in the similar market?

Mabel reply: We cater to a very niche segment of the leisure travel market. Most of the trips out in the market now can be quite daunting to beginners as they are catered for experienced cyclists, hikers and runners. We try to offer a range of leisure based and experienced based trips, so that there is something for everyone. Travelling is all about the experiences and we try to be authentic in what we provide in our programmes. For example, when cycling in Malaysia, we go through the kampong roads and eat at places the locals go to so that you can interact with the local people and watch how they go about their daily lives.

Question 6: Out of many trips you have organize, Is there any moment that you encounter is unforgettable ?

Mabel reply: Everytime I see new members enjoying thier ride or hike and overcoming their personal fears is an unforgettable moment for me. Being there to witness them go through different stages, from overthinking to fully immersing themselves in the experience, is really satisfying. More so if they start asking when the next trip is going to be!
